Working towards AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner

Building on AWS, automating the rest.

I'm Patryk. I write Python and browser scripts to automate repetitive work, and I'm building my cloud skills hands-on with a series of small, documented AWS projects.

What I work with

The tools I use day to day while learning and building.

AWS fundamentals

Hosting, storage, networking and access control on the core AWS services.

  • S3
  • EC2
  • IAM
  • VPC
  • CloudFront

Automation

Scripts that replace manual steps, from AWS CLI and boto3 to Tampermonkey userscripts.

  • Python
  • boto3
  • AWS CLI
  • Tampermonkey

Security basics

MFA on every account, an IAM user instead of root for daily work, and a deploy user with least-privilege permissions.

  • IAM
  • MFA
  • Least privilege
  • HTTPS

Projects

Small, real things I've built while learning. Each one has its own repository with a README and architecture notes.

This portfolio

A hand-written static site (HTML, CSS and vanilla JavaScript). The S3 bucket stays private and CloudFront serves it over HTTPS using Origin Access Control.

  • S3
  • CloudFront
  • OAC
  • HTTPS
What I learned
  • Why a private bucket behind CloudFront beats public website hosting
  • How caching works and when to invalidate
  • Deploying with the AWS CLI

IAM least privilege

A deploy-only IAM user limited to one S3 bucket and one CloudFront distribution, with tests proving that everything else is denied.

  • IAM
  • Policies
  • Least privilege
  • AWS CLI
What I learned
  • IAM denies by default, so a policy only needs to list what is allowed
  • Bucket-level and object-level actions need different resource ARNs
  • Named CLI profiles keep admin and deploy credentials apart

AWS account checker

A Python script that connects to AWS with boto3 and reports account identity and EC2 usage.

  • Python
  • boto3
  • IAM
What I learned
  • Calling AWS APIs from Python with boto3
  • Reading the caller identity to confirm which account a script runs against

Ten-project AWS roadmap

Two projects done. Every project is designed to run within the AWS free tier.
